Scottish Tooling Series, an indoor climbing competition where competitors use ice axes (and crampons) to negotiate the routes.

The 50 entrants spent the day working through 20 different qualifying ‘problems’. Some were low level traverses while others were direct routes, one having a hanging obstacle thrown in for good measure. This particular round stood out as it was held in the Ice Factor – the UK’s largest articulated rock climbing wall which also boasts the biggest indoor ice climbing facility in the world. The routes in the ‘fridge’ added crampons to the mix and gave some of the best shots of the day. The final was a difficult route on the main wall, with only a few making it to the top.
